about

A lot of my influences while making albums recently has come from the folk music of Sweden itself. Bands like Kebnekajse, Väsen and Kaipa have been a gold mine of inspiration.
It fits in beautifully with the fairytale quality of the song.

lyrics

Centuries ago in a cold and distant country
Melodies of beauty can be heard beyond the trees
It’s winter and the storms are raging on relentlessly
While an old man wanders by himself and endures the biting freeze

The man has scaled the mountains and has no place to rest his legs
Then the blizzards come to a halt and clears the air
A woman dressed in white appears before the tired man
With a fair face and a long flowing hair

She comforts him, she holds him like a child in her arms
He falls on his knees, he’s cold and walks in ragged clothes
The maiden casts a light upon his weary soul
And he's lifted towards the spectral roads

For a moment it would seem the end is near
The clouds are parting and leads him to the home of angels
The maiden holds him tightly as they’re leaving ground
Let me go my fair maiden, I won’t leave this world behind

This is the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children and spread the word
for generations to come
It’s a tale of sorrow with a glimpse of hope
buried beneath a broken soul
that tries to move against the light
Tell me the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children, share his story to the world

It’s hours passed midnight and the weather here is lethal
Dear wanderer you don’t stand a chance in the winter cold
I’ve come to bring you to a place you can rest your weary soul
You haven’t got much time left and your story has been told

I care not for a life in the clouds
My family is gone and my heart no longer cries
I’ve lost almost everything but faith in myself
This angers the maiden as it turns to be death in disguise

This is the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children and spread the word
for generations to come
It’s a tale of sorrow with a glimpse of hope
buried beneath a broken soul
that tries to move against the light
Tell me the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children, share his story to the world

The maiden leaves with a painful cry
She turns into vapor while the wanderer stands there
The sun comes up for another day
While the wanderer is destined to continue forth

I ain’t dead, I live to
roam around I’m standing tall
Nothing you can say can
break me down I’ve heard it all

This is the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children and spread the word
for generations to come
It’s a tale of sorrow with a glimpse of hope
buried beneath a broken soul
that tries to move against the light
Tell me the story of the
wanderer and the white maiden
Come along children, share his story to the world
